From Mom Brain to Business Brain: The Evolution of Motherhood & Entrepreneurship

Updated: Apr 6, 2023

Are you a mom looking to jump start your career and build something big for you and your family? Do you find that sometimes it can seem impossible to keep up with work, home life, and all the other goals and ambitions in between? Have no fear - there’s still hope! With determination, support from those around us, and yes – even laughter – moms everywhere can become successful entrepreneurs. This blog post is about helping moms just like yourself take their first steps into transforming from “Mom Brain” (aka chaos) to “Business Brain” (focus & productivity), as well as delving into how motherhood has shifted the way we approach entrepreneurship today.

Acknowledging and Celebrating Moms

Being a mom is an incredible job and we all deserve a pat on the back.

But let's face it, after long days of caring for our families and running around, a lot of moms suffer from "mom brain"! Luckily, over time, there's been a shift — an evolution if you will – with more and more moms leaning into their entrepreneurial side by starting their own businesses or taking leadership roles. This move has lead to moms

  • Being surrounded by empowering women

  • Creating a source of financial independence

  • Finding a purpose outside of momhood

Yes "mom brain" sucks sometimes but it prepares us in a way because, we know we need to get the job done. Life as an entrepreneur is much the same. No one is coming to tell you to do it and no one is coming to bail you out!

From managing small budgets, learning about different streams of income, to handling family obligations - the challenges are endless! But being a business owner also has its incredible rewards. You get personalized flexibility to create your own schedule and hours, as well as having full autonomy and control over your success. This is why investing in a business coach and mentoring service specifically tailored for mothers is so important. With the right guidance, you can achieve your goals while still cherishing all of life's precious moments!

Motherhood and Entrepreneurship

Motherhood and entrepreneurship may seem like two different worlds, but the truth is they have more in common than most people realize. Both require juggling multiple tasks at

once, making tough decisions, and constantly adapting to changing circumstances. As a mom, you have likely developed some incredible skills that can be applied to starting and running a successful business. One key aspect of this is the evolution of your mindset from "mom brain" to "business brain."

While mom brain can be great for multitasking and keeping track of your family's schedules, it can also hold you back from seeing yourself as a capable entrepreneur.

By shifting your mindset and developing a business brain, you can tap into your strengths as a mother and use them to build a successful business.

For example, your ability to multitask can be a huge asset in managing the various aspects of your business, from marketing to finance to product development. Your experience in problem-solving and decision-making can also be applied to navigating challenges that arise in the business world. And your passion for helping others can fuel your desire to create a product or service that makes a difference in people's lives.

Strategies for Balance and Productivity

Being a working mom isn’t easy. Trying to balance day-to-day tasks and responsibilities with the demands of a professional career can be an overwhelming challenge. But having the right strategies for focus and productivity can make all the difference!

Here are my two main strategies I use to support my clients:

The Wellness Bank

Your wellness bank is the collection of resources that you have at your disposal to manage your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Just like a financial bank account, your wellness bank needs to be managed wisely and maintained to ensure a healthy balance. Your time, energy, and money are the primary resources that make up your wellness bank. When these resources are in abundance, you feel strong, capable, and in control. However, when your wellness bank is depleted, you feel exhausted, stressed, and vulnerable. It's essential to prioritize self-care and invest in your wellness bank regularly. By doing so, you will not only improve your overall well-being but also increase your productivity and success in all areas of life, including your business.

F.A.I.R routine

The F.A.I.R. routine is a great way for busy moms to stay on track and maintain a sense of balance in their daily lives. F.A.I.R. stands for focus, action, intention, and reflection, and it provides a framework for staying organized and productive while also taking care of oneself. By starting each day with a clear focus on the tasks at hand, taking action to complete those tasks, setting clear intentions for how to approach the day, and reflecting on progress and areas for improvement, moms can make the most of their time and energy. By incorporating the F.A.I.R. routine into their daily lives, moms can stay motivated, focused, and on track toward achieving their goals, both personal and professional.

Tips for Making it Work

Starting your day on the right foot is crucial, especially when you're a busy mom trying to balance work and family life. One great way to kick off your day is with a simple routine that can be done in as little as three minutes or as long as 30 minutes: Planning, Journaling, and Stretching, or PJS for short.

The PJS routine

The PJS routine involves taking a few moments each morning to plan out your day, journal your thoughts and intentions, and stretch your body to wake up your muscles and increase circulation. By taking just a few minutes to focus on yourself and your goals for the day, you can set a positive tone for the rest of the day and feel more in control of your time and energy.

The beauty of the PJS routine is that it can be customized to fit your individual needs and schedule. If you only have a few minutes to spare, simply jot down a quick to-do list, write a few sentences in your journal, and do a few stretches to get your blood flowing. But if you have more time, you can expand each element of the routine and make it a more substantial part of your morning ritual.

The best part about the PJS routine is that it's an easy way to invest in yourself and your well-being each day. It can help you start your day feeling centered, focused, and ready to

take on whatever challenges come your way as a badass mom in business.

Being Bold in Your Business Ideas

Finding your own unique voice when it comes to your business ideas can be intimidating and even a little scary. But it doesn't have to be! Find an encouraging and understanding community who values not just your successes but also the missteps that you take as part of learning how to bring your ideas out into the world in an empowered way.

Through us, you can find powerful collaborations, discuss business ideas, overcome struggles, and share triumphs with others who understand what it’s like in the Mom world. Motherhood and entrepreneurship don’t have to be mutually exclusive - the two can go hand in hand, creating a life of balance that supports both. We understand how challenging transitions can be and are committed to helping moms find strategies for balance, develop productivity routines, become bold in their business ideas and foster meaningful connections with other moms through community support. We recognize that the evolution of a mom from Mom Brain to Business Brain is an incredible accomplishment, worth acknowledging and celebrating for the warrior mom it makes her.

If you're a mom who is considering starting a business, don't let your mom brain hold you back. Recognize the unique skills and experience you bring to the table and embrace the challenges that come with entrepreneurship. With determination, hard work, and the right mindset, you can achieve great success in your business ventures
